High-performance Hastelloy C276 fasteners, bolts, nuts, studs, and washers. Explore the superior corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and applications of C276 alloy fasteners. Compare with Hastelloy X, C22, B2, B3 alloys for your critical projects.
Our Hastelloy C276 fasteners represent the pinnacle of corrosion-resistant alloy solutions for demanding industrial environments. Manufactured to the highest standards, these high-strength fasteners are engineered to maintain integrity in the most aggressive chemical and high-temperature services.
The exceptional performance of C276 alloy fasteners stems from their optimized nickel-molybdenum-chromium composition:
Nickel (Ni): Bal. - Provides inherent ductility and resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
Molybdenum (Mo): 15-17% - Delivers outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments.
Chromium (Cr): 14.5-16.5% - Enhances resistance to oxidizing media and high-temperature oxidation.
Tungsten (W): 3-4.5% - Improves overall corrosion resistance and solid-solution strength.
Iron (Fe): 4-7% - A controlled balance for stability.
Low Carbon (C): ≤0.01% - Minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, ensuring weldability and heat treatment stability.
This carefully balanced chemistry makes Hastelloy C276 bolts and nuts ideal for ASME B16.5 and ASTM B574 compliant applications.
Our Hastelloy fasteners offer a robust combination of strength and toughness:
Tensile Strength: ≥ 690 MPa (100 ksi)
Yield Strength (0.2% Offset): ≥ 283 MPa (41 ksi)
Elongation: ≥ 40%
Hardness (Rockwell B): ≤ 100 HRB
These properties ensure reliable high-temperature performance and excellent fatigue resistance, making them suitable for pressure vessel and piping system assemblies under cyclic loads.
Chemical Processing Industry (CPI): Reactors, columns, heat exchangers, and piping systems handling chlorides, sulfuric acid, and other aggressive chemicals.
Pollution Control & FGD Systems: Scrubbers, dampers, and ductwork in flue gas desulfurization units.
Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemical: Critical equipment requiring ultra-clean and corrosion-resistant fastener solutions.
Marine & Offshore: Components exposed to seawater and sour gas (H₂S) environments.
Waste Incineration & Thermal Processing: High-temperature fasteners for boiler and furnace components.
Selecting the right corrosion-resistant fastener is critical. Here’s how C276 compares to other popular Hastelloy alloys:
1. Hastelloy C276 vs. Hastelloy C22 (UNS N06022)
Similarities: Both are versatile, nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys with excellent overall corrosion resistance.
Key Difference: Hastelloy C22 fasteners have slightly higher chromium (20-22.5%) and lower tungsten content, offering improved resistance to strongly oxidizing environments (e.g., hot contaminated nitric acid, mixed acids). C276 fasteners may have a cost advantage and are the established standard for a wider range of reducing conditions.
2. Hastelloy C276 vs. Hastelloy X (UNS N06002)
Key Difference: Hastelloy X is a nickel-based superalloy optimized for high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance up to 1200°C. It is the preferred choice for aerospace fasteners and gas turbine engine components.
Application Distinction: Choose C276 fasteners for severe chemical corrosion. Choose Hastelloy X fasteners for extreme high-temperature mechanical performance in oxidizing atmospheres.
3. Hastelloy C276 vs. Hastelloy B2/B3 (UNS N10665 / N10675)
Key Difference: The Hastelloy B-series (B2, B3) are nickel-molybdenum alloys with very high molybdenum content (~28%) and very low chromium. They offer superior resistance to hydrochloric acid and other severe reducing agents but have very poor resistance to oxidizing media.
Application Distinction: Use B2 or B3 alloy fasteners for dedicated, non-oxidizing hydrochloric acid service. C276 fasteners provide a much broader spectrum of resistance, including handling environments with trace oxidants.
