RAYCHIN LIMITED is a leading manufacturer of Monel Bolts – precision hex head fasteners engineered from nickel-copper alloys, delivering exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and reliable performance in the most demanding marine, chemical, and industrial environments. Our comprehensive bolt product line includes hex head cap screws, heavy hex bolts, flange bolts, carriage bolts, and structural bolts – all manufactured to the highest precision standards. Monel alloys, among the first nickel-based alloys developed commercially, maintain a single solid-solution phase (or precipitation-hardened structure in K-500) that resists attack from a range of corrosive media that would damage both carbon steel and stainless steel. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including ASME B18.2.1 (inch series), ISO 4014 (metric hex head bolts), and DIN 931. Whether you require Monel 400 bolts for marine seawater systems, Monel K-500 bolts for high-strength oil & gas downhole tools and wellhead equipment, or custom nickel-copper fasteners for chemical processing, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Monel hex head cap screws are precision fasteners featuring a flat washer facing under the bolt head, providing a larger bearing surface area and better clamping pressure than other fastener types. Manufactured to tight dimensional tolerances for critical applications where precise fit is required. Head dimensions conform to ASME B18.2.1 (inch series) and ISO 4014 (metric series). Available in diameters from #0 to 2" (M1.6 to M48).
Monel heavy hex bolts feature a larger head width across flats compared to finished hex bolts, providing increased bearing area and load distribution for heavy-duty flange connections and industrial equipment. Manufactured to ASME B18.2.1 (inch) and DIN 931 (metric) standards. Used extensively in high-pressure piping systems, pressure vessels, and offshore platform connections where maximum clamping force is required.
Monel bolts available with Unified Coarse (UNC), Unified Fine (UNF), UNJF-3A (aerospace), and metric coarse/fine threads. Thread classes 2A, 3A, 6g. Precision rolled threads for superior fatigue life. Full thread (threaded to head) or partial thread options available to meet specific application requirements.
Our Monel bolts meet applicable sections of NAS1802 (hex bolts), NASM 8830, MS16995, and AN42-AN73. Full compliance with ASTM F468 (nonferrous bolts, screws, and studs), ASTM B164 (Monel 400 bar/rod), ASTM B865 (Monel K-500 bar/rod), AMS 4730 (Monel 400 wire), and AMS 4675 (Monel K-500 bar) for material and heat treatment. Silver plating per AMS 2410 available for anti-galling.
Monel bolts for sour service manufactured to NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-3 and NACE MR0103 specifications. Monel's high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to sulfide stress cracking (SSC) in H₂S environments. Supplied with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certifications and full NDT (PMI, UT, MPI) upon request. Ideal for subsea trees, BOP stacks, and wellhead connectors.
Need a special head configuration, proprietary drive, non-standard length, or unique thread form? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom Monel bolts to your exact specifications – any condition (annealed, half hard, age-hardened for K-500), with full material traceability. Prototype to production volumes supported. In-house metallurgical laboratory and failure analysis capabilities ensure optimal performance for your application.
Monel bolts are extensively used in marine environments due to their outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, with corrosion rates below 0.025 mm/year. Applications include hull fasteners, propeller shaft couplings, rudder fittings, seawater piping flanges, underwater instrumentation, and offshore platform connections. Unlike stainless steel, Monel maintains structural integrity even in submerged or splash-zone conditions and resists biofouling.
Monel bolts in chemical processing plants resist aggressive substances such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) in all concentrations up to boiling point – Monel 400 is the standard material for HF alkylation unit piping and equipment. Also excellent for sulfuric acid concentrations above 80%, deaerated hydrochloric acid at low concentrations, caustic solutions, and reducing atmospheres. Used in reactor flanges, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, and valve bonnets.
Monel bolts qualified per NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-3 for offshore drilling rigs, subsea production systems, wellhead equipment, and downhole tools. These environments combine high pressure, elevated temperatures, and exposure to corrosive elements like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), chlorides, and seawater. Monel K-500, with precipitation hardening, provides yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) for high-strength downhole fasteners, valve stems, and wellhead components while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance in sour gas environments.
Monel bolts are used in both aircraft and spacecraft components that must perform in extreme environments – ranging from high-temperature engine zones to the vacuum of outer space. Found in fuel systems, hydraulic lines, structural frames, and landing gear assemblies. Monel retains its strength across a broad temperature range from cryogenic (-423°F) up to 1000°F, resists oxidation, and performs reliably under thermal cycling. Non-magnetic properties essential for sensitive instrumentation and electronic housings.
Monel bolts in nuclear reactor flanges, steam turbine controls, and power plant seawater cooling systems provide reliable fastening in corrosive and high-temperature environments. Excellent resistance to high-temperature steam, with corrosion rates less than 0.026 mm/year at elevated temperatures. Maintains mechanical properties up to 540°C (1000°F) in oxidizing and reducing conditions. Used for turbine control linkages, sensor mounts, and heat exchanger bolting where corrosion resistance and precision fit are critical.
Monel bolts in seawater intake systems, desalination plants, and offshore platform structural connections resist pitting and crevice corrosion in high-velocity seawater. Used for flange connections on large-bore piping, pump foundations, and valve actuators where long-term reliability in aggressive water environments is essential. Virtually immune to stress corrosion cracking in marine environments, making them ideal for reverse osmosis and thermal desalination processes.
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Monel bolts from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Monel bolts are produced from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the following limits per ASTM, AMS, and industry standards.
Metallurgical note: Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy that is hardened only through cold working. It remains ductile even at subzero temperatures and does not require heat treatment for moderate strength properties. Monel K-500 adds aluminum and titanium to enable precipitation hardening (aging), achieving yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. Both alloys are essentially non-magnetic (K-500 is non-magnetic; Monel 400 is slightly magnetic at room temperature but loses magnetism at elevated temperatures). The high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while copper enhances resistance to reducing environments such as hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids.
Monel bolts are supplied in various conditions per ASTM and AMS specifications. Data represent typical values based on industry standards. ksi values (kilopound per square inch) are provided alongside MPa.
Monel alloys retain useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 540°C (1000°F) and can operate in moderately elevated environments. The alloys maintain excellent ductility and toughness from cryogenic temperatures down to -184°C (-300°F) continuously, with good oxidation resistance up to 540°C. Monel K-500 is typically limited to 480°C (900°F) to prevent over-aging of the precipitation-hardened structure. In high-temperature steam, corrosion rates are less than 0.026 mm/year. Monel 400 exhibits a "hot brittleness" phenomenon in the 600-800°C range, but this does not affect normal service temperatures below 540°C.
Note: Monel excels in applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance at moderate to high temperatures, particularly in reducing environments where stainless steels may fail. Above 480°C, Monel K-500 may experience over-aging and loss of strength.
Monel alloys offer outstanding corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments, making them suitable for the most demanding applications including marine, chemical processing, oil & gas, and power generation.
All Monel bolts are manufactured and tested to meet the following standards:
We offer surface finishes: passivation (ASTM A967), silver plating (AMS 2410 for anti‑seize), PTFE coating, electropolish, zinc nickel coating, and Xylan coated options.
