RAYCHIN LIMITED is a leading manufacturer of Monel Threaded Rods – precision continuous thread fasteners engineered from nickel-copper alloys, delivering exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and reliable performance in the most demanding marine, chemical, and industrial environments. Threaded rods (also known as fully threaded studs) are headless fasteners with continuous threads along their entire length, ideal for applications requiring adjustable connections, through-bolting, custom-length installations, and anchoring systems. Monel alloys were among the first nickel-based alloys developed commercially and maintain a single solid-solution phase (or precipitation-hardened structure in K-500) that resists attack from a range of corrosive media that would damage both carbon steel and stainless steel. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including ASME B18.31.2 (inch series), ISO 898-1 (metric series), and ASTM F468. Whether you require Monel 400 threaded rods for marine seawater intake systems, Monel K-500 threaded rods for high-strength oil & gas downhole tools and wellhead equipment, or custom nickel-copper fasteners for chemical processing, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Monel threaded rods feature continuous threads along the entire length, providing maximum versatility for custom-length applications. They can be cut to any desired length and used with standard nuts and washers. Precision rolled threads for superior fatigue life and consistent thread fit. Available in standard lengths up to 3000mm (120") or custom cut lengths to meet specific project requirements. Ideal for tie rods, anchors, hangers, and custom fabricated assemblies.
Monel threaded rods available with Unified Coarse (UNC) for quick assembly and resistance to thread stripping, Unified Fine (UNF) for enhanced precision and clamping force, left-hand threads for anti-loosening in rotating systems, and metric coarse/fine threads for international standardization. Supplied with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certifications and full NDT (PMI, UT, MPI) upon request. Ideal for subsea trees, BOP stacks, wellhead connectors, and downhole tools where both strength and corrosion resistance are required.
Need a special thread form, non-standard length, custom end configurations, or specific mechanical properties? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom Monel threaded rods to your exact specifications – any condition (annealed, half hard, age-hardened for K-500), with full material traceability. Prototype to production volumes supported. In-house metallurgical laboratory and failure analysis capabilities ensure optimal performance for your application.
Monel threaded rods are extensively used in marine environments due to their outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, with corrosion rates below 0.025 mm/year. Applications include seawater intake systems, propeller shaft couplings, rudder fittings, underwater fastenings, offshore platform risers, subsea connectors, and desalination plant equipment. Unlike stainless steel, Monel maintains structural integrity even in submerged or splash-zone conditions and resists biofouling. Ideal for both new construction and repair of aging vessels.
Monel threaded rods in chemical processing plants resist aggressive substances such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) in all concentrations up to boiling point – Monel 400 is the standard material for HF alkylation unit piping and equipment. Also excellent for sulfuric acid concentrations above 80%, deaerated hydrochloric acid at low concentrations, caustic solutions, and reducing atmospheres. Used in piping systems, flange connections, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactor supports, and valve assemblies where long-term reliability in corrosive environments is essential.
Monel threaded rods qualified per NACE MR0175 for offshore drilling rigs, subsea production systems, wellhead equipment, and downhole tools. These environments combine high pressure, elevated temperatures, and exposure to corrosive elements like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), chlorides, and seawater. Monel K-500, with precipitation hardening, provides yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) for high-strength downhole fasteners, wellhead components, valve stems, and instrumentation housings while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance in sour gas environments.
Monel threaded rods are used in both aircraft and spacecraft components that must perform in extreme environments – ranging from high-temperature engine zones to the vacuum of outer space. Found in fuel systems, hydraulic lines, structural frames, landing gear assemblies, and satellite systems. Monel retains its strength across a broad temperature range from cryogenic (-423°F) up to 1000°F, resists oxidation, and performs reliably under thermal cycling. Non-magnetic properties essential for sensitive instrumentation and electronic housings.
Monel threaded rods in nuclear reactor flanges, steam turbine controls, and power plant seawater cooling systems provide reliable fastening in corrosive and high-temperature environments. Excellent resistance to high-temperature steam, with corrosion rates less than 0.026 mm/year at elevated temperatures. Maintains mechanical properties up to 540°C (1000°F) in oxidizing and reducing conditions. Used for turbine control linkages, sensor mounts, and heat exchanger bolting where corrosion resistance and precision are critical. Suitable for geothermal and offshore wind components.
Monel threaded rods in seawater intake systems, desalination plants, and water treatment facilities resist pitting and crevice corrosion in high-velocity saltwater and brine solutions. Used for flange connections on large-bore piping, pump foundations, membrane support structures, and valve actuators where long-term reliability in aggressive water environments is essential. Virtually immune to stress corrosion cracking and biofouling, making them ideal for reverse osmosis and thermal desalination processes.
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Monel threaded rods from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Monel threaded rods are produced from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the following limits per ASTM, AMS, and industry standards.
Metallurgical note: Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy that is hardened only through cold working. It remains ductile even at subzero temperatures and does not require heat treatment for moderate strength properties. Monel K-500 adds aluminum and titanium to enable precipitation hardening (aging), achieving yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. Both alloys are essentially non-magnetic (K-500 is non-magnetic; Monel 400 is slightly magnetic at room temperature but loses magnetism at elevated temperatures). The high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while copper enhances resistance to reducing environments such as hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids. Monel threaded rods are manufactured with precision-rolled threads for superior fatigue life and consistent performance in demanding applications.
Monel threaded rods are supplied in various conditions per ASTM and AMS specifications. Data represent typical values based on industry standards. ksi values (kilopound per square inch) are provided alongside MPa.
Monel alloys retain useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 540°C (1000°F) and can operate in moderately elevated environments. The alloys maintain excellent ductility and toughness from cryogenic temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) continuously, with good oxidation resistance up to 1000°F. Monel K-500 is typically limited to 480°C (900°F) to prevent over-aging of the precipitation-hardened structure. In high-temperature steam, corrosion rates are less than 0.026 mm/year. Both alloys exhibit outstanding thermal stability, retaining up to 80% of room-temperature strength at 538°C (1000°F).
Note: Monel excels in applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance at moderate to high temperatures, particularly in reducing environments where stainless steels may fail. Above 480°C, Monel K-500 may experience over-aging and loss of strength.
Monel alloys offer outstanding corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments, making them suitable for the most demanding applications including marine, chemical processing, oil & gas, and power generation.
