Nickel 200 Nuts

Nickel 200 nuts are manufactured in hex, heavy hex, jam, slotted, and coupling nut configurations per ASME B18.2.2 (inch), ISO 4032 / DIN 934 (metric). Precision tapped with class 2B/6H threads. Metallurgical note: Nickel 200 is a commercially pure, solid-solution wrought nickel alloy. It has a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure that remains stable from cryogenic temperatures up to its melting point, providing excellent ductility and fabricability. The alloy exhibits ferromagnetic properties with a Curie temperature of approximately 360°C (680°F). Nickel 200 is suitable for applications up to 315°C (600°F); for higher temperatures, Nickel 201 (low carbon version) is recommended to avoid graphitization.

High‑Temperature Performance of Nickel 200 Fasteners

Nickel 200 retains useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 315°C (600°F) and is suitable for continuous service in this range. The alloy maintains excellent ductility from cryogenic temperatures (-269°C) up to its maximum service temperature, with no ductile-to-brittle transition. At elevated temperatures, Nickel 200 exhibits good oxidation resistance and retains approximately 50% of its room temperature strength at 315°C. For applications above 315°C, Nickel 201 (low carbon version) is recommended to prevent graphitization and embrittlement.

Nickel 200 offers outstanding corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments, making it suitable for the most demanding applications in chemical processing, marine, and power generation industries.

  • Caustic Alkalis: Outstanding resistance to sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) and potassium hydroxide in all concentrations up to and including molten state. Nickel 200 is the preferred material for caustic evaporators and handling equipment.
  • Seawater Corrosion: Excellent resistance to ordinary seawater corrosion, making it ideal for onshore and offshore marine applications, including desalination systems and marine fittings.
  • Neutral and Alkaline Salts: Highly resistant to most neutral and alkaline salt solutions, including chlorides, sulfates, and nitrates.
  • Acid Resistance: Good resistance to de-aerated mineral acids. Most useful under reducing conditions. Resists hydrofluoric acid and organic acids in the absence of oxidizing agents.
  • High Temperature Water: Excellent corrosion resistance in high-temperature water and steam environments up to 315°C.
