Alloy 330 Fasteners

Alloy 330 Fasteners

Alloy 330 (1.4864) fasteners are specifically designed for high temperature furnace applications such as vacuum furnaces, heat treating and brazing applications. The most prized trait of alloy 330 is its ability perform under cyclic conditions of temperature extremes from heating and cooling; as well as in alternate carburizing and oxidizing atmospheres. An austenitic, nickel-chromium-iron-silicon alloy, 330 fasteners also offer industry a low coefficient of expansion, excellent ductility, and high strength.

Corrosion Resistance of Alloy 330 Fasteners

Alloy 330 is primarily designed for high‑temperature environments, but it offers good resistance to many corrosive media:

  • Oxidation: Exceptional resistance in air up to 1150°C due to high chromium and silicon.
  • Carburization: High nickel content resists carbon absorption in carbon‑rich atmospheres.
  • Nitriding: Good resistance to ammonia/nitriding gases at elevated temperatures.
  • Aqueous corrosion: Similar to 310 stainless; resists many organic acids, but not intended for strong reducing acids or chlorides.
  • Stress corrosion cracking: High nickel provides immunity to chloride SCC in most conditions.
Corrosion Engineering Note: For cyclic oxidation or sulfidation environments, RAYCHIN can advise optimized surface condition. Third‑party testing per ASTM G54 (oxidization) available. Not recommended for seawater or strong chloride solutions – for those we offer 254 SMO or 6% Mo grades.
