Socket head cap screws (SHCS) feature a precision cylindrical head with an internal hex socket drive, providing a clean appearance and allowing for high tightening torque in confined spaces. Monel alloys, among the first nickel-based alloys commercialized, maintain a single solid-solution phase (or precipitation-hardened structure in K-500) that resists attack from a range of corrosive media that would damage both carbon steel and stainless steel. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including ASME B18.3 (inch series), ISO 4762 (metric series), DIN 912, and ASTM F468. Whether you require Monel 400 socket head cap screws for marine instrumentation and piping systems, Monel K-500 socket head cap screws for high-strength oil & gas downhole tools and valve stems, or custom nickel-copper fasteners for chemical processing, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Monel socket head cap screws feature a precision-formed cylindrical head with a clean, finished appearance. The head height and diameter are optimized for maximum bearing surface and wrench engagement while maintaining a compact profile for installation in confined spaces. Head dimensions conform to ASME B18.3 (inch series), ISO 4762 (metric series), DIN 912, and JIS B 1176. Available in diameters from #0 to 1.5" (M1.6 to M36).

Monel socket head cap screws are extensively used in marine environments due to their outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion, with corrosion rates below 0.025 mm/year. Applications include submersible systems, hull fastenings, propeller shaft couplings, seawater piping supports, underwater instrumentation, and offshore platform components on boats, ships, and submarines. Unlike stainless steel, Monel maintains structural integrity even in submerged or splash-zone conditions and resists rapid moving seawater, lasting many years in saltwater conditions. Non-magnetic properties essential for minesweepers and sensitive instrumentation.
Monel socket head cap screws in chemical processing plants resist aggressive substances such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) in all concentrations up to boiling point – Monel is perhaps the most resistant of all commonly used specialty alloys for HF applications. Also excellent for sulfuric acid concentrations above 80%, deaerated hydrochloric acid (low concentrations), caustic solutions, and reducing atmospheres. Used in the assembly of reactor flanges, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, and valve bodies. By preventing chemical erosion and galvanic reactions, Monel ensures system integrity and enhances operational safety in corrosive processing environments.
Monel socket head cap screws qualified per NACE MR0175 for offshore drilling rigs, subsea production systems, wellhead equipment, and downhole tools. These environments combine high pressure, elevated temperatures, and exposure to corrosive elements like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), chlorides, and seawater. Monel K-500, with precipitation hardening, provides yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) for high-strength downhole fasteners, valve stems, and wellhead components while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. Used for pump shafts, impellers, and subsea connectors requiring both strength and seawater resistance.
Monel socket head cap screws are used in both aircraft and spacecraft components that must perform in extreme environments – ranging from high-temperature engine zones to the vacuum of outer space. Found in fuel systems, hydraulic lines, structural frames, and landing gear assemblies. Monel retains its strength across a broad temperature range from cryogenic (-423°F) up to 1000°F, resists oxidation, and performs reliably under thermal cycling. In US Navy tear tests at temperatures as low as -320°F, Monel 400 displayed excellent ductility and toughness with little decrease in impact resistance. Non-magnetic properties essential for sensitive instrumentation and electronic housings.
Monel socket head cap screws in nuclear reactor flanges, steam turbine controls, and power plant seawater cooling systems provide reliable fastening in corrosive and high-temperature environments. Excellent resistance to high-temperature steam, with corrosion rates less than 0.026 mm/year at elevated temperatures. Maintains mechanical properties up to 540°C (1000°F) in oxidizing and reducing conditions. Used for turbine control linkages, sensor mounts, and heat exchanger bolting where corrosion resistance and precision fit are critical. Suitable for geothermal and offshore wind components.
Monel socket head cap screws in seawater intake systems, desalination plants, and offshore platform structural connections resist pitting and crevice corrosion in high-velocity seawater. Used for flange connections on large-bore piping, pump foundations, and valve actuators where long-term reliability in saltwater is essential. Virtually immune to stress corrosion cracking in marine environments. The socket head design allows secure fastening in confined spaces on offshore platforms and subsea installations.
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Monel socket head cap screws from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Monel socket head cap screws are produced from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the following limits per ASTM, AMS, and industry standards.
Metallurgical note: Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy that is hardened only through cold working. It remains ductile even at subzero temperatures and does not require heat treatment for high strength properties. Monel K-500 adds aluminum and titanium to enable precipitation hardening (aging), achieving yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. Both alloys are essentially non-magnetic (K-500 is non-magnetic; Monel 400 is slightly magnetic at room temperature but loses magnetism at elevated temperatures). The high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while copper enhances resistance to reducing environments such as hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids. Monel alloys were among the first nickel-based alloys developed commercially and maintain a single solid-solution phase that resists attack from a range of corrosive media that would damage both carbon steel and stainless steel.
Monel socket head cap screws are supplied in various conditions per ASTM and AMS specifications. Data represent typical values based on industry standards. ksi values (kilopound per square inch) are provided alongside MPa.
Monel alloys retain useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 540°C (1000°F) and can operate in moderately elevated environments. The alloys maintain excellent ductility and toughness from cryogenic temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) continuously, with good oxidation resistance up to 1000°F. Monel K-500 is typically limited to 480°C (900°F) to prevent over-aging of the precipitation-hardened structure. In high-temperature steam, corrosion rates are less than 0.026 mm/year.
Note: Monel excels in applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance at moderate to high temperatures, particularly in reducing environments where stainless steels may fail. Above 480°C, Monel K-500 may experience over-aging and loss of strength.
Monel alloys offer outstanding corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments, making them suitable for the most demanding applications including marine, chemical processing, oil & gas, and power generation.
