RAYCHIN LIMITED is a leading manufacturer of Monel Flat Head Screws – precision countersunk fasteners engineered from nickel-copper alloys, delivering exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and reliable performance in the most demanding marine, chemical, and industrial environments. Flat head screws (countersunk) feature a conical bearing surface and flat top, allowing for flush installation when mated with a countersunk hole – ideal for applications requiring smooth profiles and reduced snagging. Monel alloys, developed in 1905, are among the first nickel-based alloys commercialized and maintain a single solid-solution phase that resists attack from a range of corrosive media that would damage both carbon steel and stainless steel . Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including ASME B18.3 (inch series), ISO 10642 (metric series), and NASM 20426. Whether you require Monel 400 flat head screws for marine decking, Monel K-500 flat head screws for oil & gas downhole tools, or custom nickel-copper fasteners for chemical processing, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Monel flat head screws are manufactured with precision countersink angles to match industry standards: 82° for UNC/UNF inch series, 100° for aerospace (NAS), and 90° for ISO metric (ISO 10642). Drives include internal hex (Allen) for positive torque transmission, Phillips for automated assembly, and slotted for traditional applications . Precision-formed sockets ensure consistent engagement and minimize cam-out .
The flat head (countersunk) design allows the screw to sit flush with or below the surface, eliminating protruding obstacles. This is critical for aerodynamic drag reduction, snag-free assemblies, and aesthetic requirements . Provides a smooth, flat surface finish ideal for marine decking, aircraft assembly, and applications requiring a flush finish . Head dimensions conform to ASME B18.3 (inch) and ISO 10642 (metric).
Monel flat head cap screws available with Unified Coarse (UNC), Unified Fine (UNF), UNJF-3A (aerospace), and metric coarse/fine threads. Thread classes 2A, 3A, 6g. Sizes from #0 to 1" (M1.6 to M24). Precision rolled threads for superior fatigue life. Full or partial thread available. Standard shaft or shoulder shaft configurations for shear resistance and alignment applications .
Our Monel flat head screws meet applicable sections of NASM 20426 (flat head screws), NAS1802, and MS16995 for geometry. Full compliance with AMS 4730 (Monel 400 wire), AMS 4675 (Monel K-500 bar), ASTM B164, and QQ-N-281 for material and heat treatment . Silver plating per AMS 2410 available for anti-galling.
Monel flat head screws for sour service manufactured to NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-3 and NACE MR0103 specifications . Monel's high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to sulfide stress cracking (SSC) in H₂S environments . Supplied with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certifications and full NDT (PMI, UT, MPI) upon request.
Need a special head diameter, extra-long length, proprietary drive, or unique countersink angle? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom Monel flat head screws to your exact specifications – any condition (annealed, cold worked, age-hardened for K-500), with full material traceability . Prototype to production volumes supported.
Monel flat head screws are extensively used in marine environments due to their outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion. Applications include hull fasteners, superstructure bolts, deck hardware, propeller shafts, underwater instrumentation, and rigging components on boats, ships, and submarines . Unlike stainless steel, Monel maintains structural integrity even in submerged or splash-zone conditions, with corrosion rates below 0.025 mm/year in seawater . Flush-mount design prevents snagging on fishing nets and diving equipment.
Monel flat head screws in chemical processing plants resist aggressive substances such as sulfuric acid (concentrations above 80%), hydrochloric acid, caustic solutions, and oxidizing atmospheres . Used in the assembly of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, piping systems, and valves . By preventing chemical erosion and galvanic reactions, Monel ensures system integrity, reduces maintenance frequency, and enhances operational safety in corrosive processing environments .
Monel flat head screws qualified per NACE MR0175 for offshore drilling rigs, subsea production systems, wellhead equipment, and pipelines . These environments combine high pressure, elevated temperatures, and exposure to corrosive elements like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), chlorides, and seawater . Monel's resistance to stress corrosion cracking and sulfide stress cracking ensures reliable performance in deepwater and sour gas applications where conventional alloys would rapidly degrade . Monel K-500, with precipitation hardening, provides yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) for high-strength downhole components .
Monel flat head screws are used in both aircraft and spacecraft components that must perform in extreme environments – ranging from high-temperature engine zones to the vacuum of outer space . Found in fuel systems, hydraulic lines, exhaust manifolds, and landing gear components . Monel retains its strength across a broad temperature range (-423°F to 1000°F), resists oxidation, and performs reliably under thermal cycling . Non-magnetic properties essential for sensitive instrumentation.
Monel flat head screws in nuclear reactor internals, steam turbines, and power plant seawater cooling systems provide reliable fastening in corrosive and high-temperature environments . Excellent resistance to high-temperature steam, with corrosion rates less than 0.026 mm/year at elevated temperatures . Maintains mechanical properties up to 540°C (1000°F) in oxidizing and reducing conditions .
Monel flat head screws in seawater intake systems, desalination plants, and offshore platform components resist pitting and crevice corrosion in high-velocity seawater . Used for heat exchanger tube sheets, pump shafts, and valve components where long-term reliability in saltwater is essential . Virtually immune to stress corrosion cracking in marine environments .
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Monel flat head screws from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Monel flat head screws are produced from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the following limits per ASTM, AMS, and industry standards .
Metallurgical note: Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy that is hardened only through cold working . It remains ductile even at subzero temperatures and does not require heat treatment for high strength properties . Monel K-500 adds aluminum and titanium to enable precipitation hardening (aging), achieving yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) . Both alloys are essentially non-magnetic (Monel 400 is slightly magnetic at room temperature but loses magnetism at elevated temperatures; K-500 is non-magnetic) . The high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while copper enhances resistance to reducing environments such as hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids .
Monel flat head screws are supplied in various conditions per ASTM and AMS specifications. Data represent typical values based on industry standards . ksi values (kilopound per square inch) are provided alongside MPa.
Monel alloys retain useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 540°C (1000°F) and can operate in moderately elevated temperatures .
