RAYCHIN LIMITED is a premier manufacturer of Monel lock nuts – engineered to provide reliable prevailing torque and vibration resistance in the most demanding corrosive and high‑temperature applications. Our comprehensive range includes nylon insert lock nuts (Nylok® type), all-metal prevailing torque nuts (deformed thread, slotted, beam type), Keps nuts (with free‑spinning washer), clinch lock nuts, and aerospace lock nuts (MS, NAS, AN). Manufactured from premium nickel‑copper alloys – Monel 400 (UNS N04400) and precipitation‑hardenable Monel K500 (UNS N05500) – these lock nuts deliver outstanding resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkalis, with Monel K500 providing yield strengths exceeding 690 MPa (100 ksi) through age hardening. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to ASTM F467, NAS, MS, AN, ANSI B18.16.3, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards. Whether you require Monel 400 lock nuts for marine assemblies or Monel K500 lock nuts for oil & gas downhole tools, RAYCHIN delivers precision, full traceability, and mechanical properties presented in MPa and ksi.
Monel nylon insert lock nuts (Nylok® equivalent) per IFI-124, DIN 985, ISO 10511. Resilient nylon collar deforms over threads to create prevailing torque. Reusable, ideal for marine and chemical environments. Sizes #4 to 2" (M3 to M48). Available in Monel 400 (annealed) and K500 (aged).
Monel all-metal lock nuts (deformed thread, top‑lock, beam type) per ASME B18.16.6, DIN 980, ISO 7042. One‑piece construction for high temperatures (up to 480°C). Excellent vibration resistance. Sizes #6 to 1½" (M4 to M36). Ideal for HF alkylation units, valve bonnets.
Monel Keps nuts (with free‑spinning washer) per ASME B18.16.4, DIN 6906. Combination nut and captive lock washer. Quick assembly, prevailing torque after seating. Used in marine electrical enclosures, pump mountings.
Monel clinch lock nuts for thin panels. Provide permanent, corrosion‑resistant threads in soft materials. Types: self‑clinching, flare‑mount. NAS1329, NAS1330 styles. Sizes #2 to ½".
Monel slotted nuts and castle nuts with cotter pin holes. Positive locking for critical assemblies. AN320, AN321, MS17825, MS17826. Used in aerospace control linkages, marine rigging.
Monel reversible lock nuts (prevailing torque from either end). Ideal for automated assembly. Also wedge‑type lock nuts for extreme vibration. Custom sizes and platings available (silver, PTFE).
Monel 400 lock nuts used in propeller shaft couplings, subsea valve actuators, and seawater pump mounts. Corrosion rate below 0.025 mm/year in seawater. Immune to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.
Monel K500 lock nuts qualified per NACE MR0175 for wellhead equipment, BOP stacks, and choke valves. Yield strengths up to 790 MPa (115 ksi) resist sulfide stress cracking. Prevailing torque ensures joint integrity under vibration.
Monel lock nuts are the standard for HF alkylation units. Resist hydrofluoric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, and alkalis. Used on reactor agitators, heat exchanger flanges, and pump casings.
Monel K500 lock nuts per MS21042, NAS1299, AN365. Non‑magnetic, spark‑resistant. Used in aircraft engines, landing gear, and ordnance. Maintain strength from cryogenic to 480°C.
Fossil and nuclear power plants use Monel lock nuts on feedwater heater supports, turbine blade locks, and control rod mechanisms. Resist high‑purity water corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
Chloride‑laden environments in bleach washers and salt evaporators demand Monel lock nuts. Outlast 316 stainless by 3‑5x. Prevailing torque prevents loosening in high‑vibration digesters.
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Monel lock nuts from material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Monel lock nuts are produced from melts conforming to the following limits per ASTM/ASME.
Metallurgical note: Monel 400 is a solid‑solution alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. Monel K500 adds aluminum and titanium for precipitation hardening (age hardening), achieving yield strengths >690 MPa while retaining the corrosion resistance of Monel 400. K‑Monel (QQ‑N‑286) is the military designation for Monel K500. Both alloys are non‑magnetic and resist chloride SCC.
Monel lock nuts supplied in solution annealed (Monel 400) or age‑hardened (Monel K500) condition per ASTM F467. Proof load values represent the stress the nut must withstand without permanent deformation. ksi values provided.
ASTM F467 requires nuts to be capable of withstanding proof load tests without stripping or fracture. Nuts for use with bolts of equivalent or higher strength.
Monel alloys retain useful mechanical properties up to 480°C (900°F). All‑metal lock nuts (deformed thread) are suitable for continuous service at these temperatures; nylon insert types are limited to about 120°C.
Monel K500 maintains high strength up to 480°C; age‑hardened structure is stable. Above 480°C, over‑aging may reduce strength. For service above 480°C, consider Inconel 718 lock nuts.
All Monel lock nuts are manufactured and tested to meet:
Surface finishes: passivation (ASTM A967), silver plating (AMS 2410 for anti‑galling), PTFE coating, electropolish. Full traceability, PMI testing, destructive/non‑destructive testing available (UT, MPI).
