All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Nickel 200 hex nuts are the most common type for general bolting, designed to match the strength of nickel 200 bolts and prevent thread stripping in corrosive service conditions. Available in finished hex (ASME B18.2.2, ISO 4032, DIN 934) and heavy hex series (ASME B18.2.2, ISO 4033) for increased bearing area. Precision tapped with class 2B/6H threads from M3 to M56 (1/4" to 2"). Ideal for chemical reactor flanges, marine assemblies, and high-purity processing equipment where corrosion resistance is critical .
Nickel 200 lock nuts provide prevailing torque to prevent loosening under vibration in corrosive environments. Available in all-metal flexloc style for high-temperature applications up to 315°C, and nylon insert style for lower temperature applications with various high-performance polymers available. Both styles available in hexagonal and thin configurations. Essential for offshore drilling equipment, chemical pump assemblies, and marine applications where vibration-induced loosening must be prevented .
Nickel 200 jam nuts (thin height) are used for locking adjustments in confined spaces and for jamming against standard nuts to prevent loosening under thermal expansion . Manufactured to ASME B18.2.2 (jam) and ISO 4035 (metric thin nuts). Ideal for precision instrumentation, sensor mounts, and applications with limited axial space while maintaining corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures .
Nickel 200 coupling nuts (long nuts) are used to connect two threaded rods or for tensioning applications in tight spaces. Available in various lengths and diameters from M3 to M56. Custom lengths and special end configurations available. Used extensively in chemical processing equipment, heat exchanger assemblies, and marine rigging where exposure to corrosive environments is constant .
Nickel 200 slotted nuts (castle nuts) feature slots cut into the top of the nut to accept a cotter pin or safety wire for positive locking. Used in critical aerospace, defense, and marine applications where absolute security is required . Manufactured to ASME B18.2.2 (inch) and applicable military standards. Available in hex and heavy hex configurations .
Our nickel 200 nuts meet applicable sections of NAS1802 (hex nuts), NASM 21042 (lock nuts), MS21042, MS21044, MS21045, MS35649, MS35650, and AN315/AN316. Full compliance with ASTM B160 (rod/bar), ASTM B564 (forgings), ASME SB160, and AMS 4675 for material and mechanical properties . Silver plating per AMS 2410 available for anti-galling. Cleanroom packaging available for semiconductor and aerospace applications .
Need special thread sizes, non‑standard heights, proprietary locking features, or unique drive configurations? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom nickel 200 nuts to your exact specifications – any condition (annealed, cold worked), with full material traceability . Prototype to production volumes supported. Cleanroom wash and packaging available for sensitive applications in pharmaceutical and food processing industries .
Nickel 200 nuts are extensively used in chemical processing plants due to their outstanding resistance to caustic alkalis (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide) up to and including molten state . They resist corrosion in de-aerated acid environments and maintain product purity in handling foods, synthetic fibers, and alkalies . Applications include reactor flanges, tanks, piping systems, heat exchangers, and evaporators handling caustic soda and hydrofluoric acid .
Nickel 200 nuts resist ordinary seawater corrosion, making them ideal for onshore and offshore marine applications . Used in seawater desalination systems, marine fittings, and corrosion-resistant fasteners for vessels and offshore platforms . Lock nuts prevent loosening in wave-induced vibration environments. Excellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salt solutions ensures long-term reliability in marine environments .
Nickel 200 nuts are used in aircraft components, rocket motor cases, and missile systems where high purity and corrosion resistance are essential . Non-magnetic properties and low outgassing make them suitable for sensitive instrumentation and vacuum tubes . Maintains ductility from cryogenic temperatures to 315°C, ensuring reliable performance across extreme thermal environments . Slotted nuts provide positive locking in critical flight systems .
Nickel 200 nuts in nuclear reactors, steam turbine controls, and power plant cooling systems provide reliable fastening in corrosive and high-temperature environments . Resists corrosion by liquid metal coolants and maintains mechanical properties up to 315°C . Used for turbine control linkages, sensor mounts, and heat exchanger bolting where corrosion resistance and product purity are critical .
Nickel 200 nuts are used in food processing equipment and pharmaceutical machinery due to non-reactivity with organic materials and ability to maintain product purity . Excellent resistance to organic compounds and caustic cleaning solutions ensures long service life in hygienic applications . Used in equipment for food handling, dairy processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing where contamination must be avoided .
Nickel 200 nuts are used in electronic components, battery manufacturing equipment, and magnetostrictive devices . High electrical conductivity and excellent fabricating characteristics make them ideal for sonar devices, ultrasonic welding controls, and rechargeable battery production . Used in computers, mobile phones, electric tools, and camcorders .
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures nickel 200 nuts from vacuum arc melted (VAR) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill .
Our nickel 200 nuts are produced from vacuum arc melted (VAR) material conforming to the following limits per ASTM B160 and industry standards .
Metallurgical note: Nickel 200 is a commercially pure, solid-solution wrought nickel alloy. It has a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure that remains stable from cryogenic temperatures up to its melting point, providing excellent ductility and fabricability . The alloy exhibits ferromagnetic properties with a Curie temperature of approximately 360°C (680°F) . Nickel 200 is suitable for continuous service up to 315°C (600°F); for applications above this temperature, Nickel 201 (low carbon version) is recommended to avoid graphitization and embrittlement .
Nickel 200 nuts are supplied in various conditions (annealed, cold worked) per ASTM B160. Data represent typical values based on industry standards .
Nickel 200 retains useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 315°C (600°F) and is suitable for continuous service in this range . The alloy maintains excellent ductility from cryogenic temperatures (-269°C) up to its maximum service temperature, with no ductile-to-brittle transition . At elevated temperatures, Nickel 200 exhibits good oxidation resistance and retains approximately 50% of its room temperature strength at 315°C . Tensile strength at 300°C is approximately 475 MPa (69 ksi), with yield strength of 120 MPa (17 ksi) and elongation of 48% . For applications above 315°C, Nickel 201 (low carbon version) is recommended to prevent graphitization and embrittlement .
Nickel 200 offers outstanding corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments, making it suitable for the most demanding applications in chemical processing, marine, and power generation industries .
