RAYCHIN LIMITED is a leading manufacturer of Waspaloy Shoulder Bolts – precision fasteners produced from age-hardenable nickel-based superalloy, delivering exceptional high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and reliable performance in the most demanding aerospace, power generation, and defense applications. Shoulder bolts (also called shoulder screws or stripper bolts) are unique fasteners with three main parts: head, shoulder, and thread. The head has the largest diameter and is where torque is applied, typically with a hex socket driver. The shoulder is smooth and unthreaded, acting as a shaft or dowel for rotating parts, guides for sliding elements, and pivot points. Waspaloy (UNS N07001) is a precipitation-hardening nickel alloy with high chromium and cobalt contents and additions of molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium, providing outstanding mechanical properties up to 870°C (1600°F). Our comprehensive product line includes Waspaloy shoulder bolts, Waspaloy shoulder screws, and Waspaloy stripper bolts – all manufactured to the highest precision standards. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including AMS 5704, AMS 5708, AMS 5709, AMS 5544, ASTM B637, and ASME SB637. Whether you require Waspaloy shoulder bolts for gas turbine engines, missile systems, or high-temperature processing equipment, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Waspaloy shoulder bolts feature a precision ground shoulder with tight diameter tolerances (typically h6 or h7). The shoulder acts as a bearing surface, shaft, or locating feature, eliminating the need for additional bushings. The shoulder is smooth and unthreaded, and has a set diameter and length – its role is to act as a shaft or dowel for rotating parts, guides for sliding elements, and pivot points in high-temperature assemblies. Available in standard and custom shoulder lengths. Shoulder diameters from M3 to M36 (#4 to 1-1/2").
Waspaloy shoulder bolts feature a head with the largest diameter where torque is applied, typically with a hex socket drive (Allen). Standard hex socket drive provides positive torque transmission and allows for flush or recessed installations. Also available with slotted drive, hex head, or custom drive configurations. Head styles include standard shoulder bolt head (reduced diameter) and heavy head options for increased bearing area. Vented versions available for UHV applications.
The threaded portion of a Waspaloy shoulder bolt has a major diameter slightly smaller than the shoulder diameter. Available with Unified Coarse (UNC), Unified Fine (UNF), UNJF-3A (aerospace), and metric coarse/fine threads. Thread classes 2A, 3A, 6g. Precision rolled threads for superior fatigue life. Standard thread lengths or custom lengths available. Sizes from M3 to M36 (#4 to 1-1/2").
Our Waspaloy shoulder bolts meet applicable sections of NASM 5160 (shoulder screws), NAS1802, and MS16995 for geometry. Full compliance with AMS 5704, AMS 5708, AMS 5709, AMS 5544, and ASTM B637 for material and mechanical properties. Silver plating per AMS 2410 available for anti-galling. NADCAP accredited heat treatment processes ensure optimal gamma prime (γ') precipitation. Cleanroom packaging available for semiconductor and aerospace applications.
Waspaloy shoulder bolts are supplied in fully heat-treated condition per AMS 5704/5705 schedules. Typical heat treatment includes solution treatment at 1066-1093°C (1950-2000°F) followed by rapid cooling, then three-step aging: 996°C (1825°F)/2 hrs/AC, 843°C (1550°F)/4 hrs/AC, and 760°C (1400°F)/16 hrs/AC. This optimizes γ' precipitation for maximum high-temperature strength. Hardness after heat treatment is typically 34-44 HRC.
Need special shoulder diameters, non‑standard shoulder lengths, proprietary drives, or unique head configurations? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom Waspaloy shoulder bolts to your exact specifications – any condition (solution treated, stabilized, precipitation hardened), with full material traceability. Prototype to production volumes supported. Cleanroom wash and packaging available for sensitive applications.

RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Waspaloy shoulder bolts from vacuum induction melted (VIM) and vacuum arc remelted (VAR) or electroslag remelted (ESR) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Waspaloy shoulder bolts are produced from vacuum induction melted (VIM) and vacuum arc remelted (VAR) material conforming to the following limits per AMS 5708, AMS 5544, and ASTM B637 standards.
Metallurgical note: Waspaloy is a precipitation-hardening nickel-based superalloy strengthened through the formation of gamma prime (γ') phase Ni₃(Al, Ti) in a disordered FCC matrix (γ). The alloy is produced by vacuum induction melting (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR) or electroslag remelting (ESR) to ensure high purity and consistent properties. High-temperature strength is obtained from solid solution strengthening elements (molybdenum, cobalt, chromium) and aging elements (aluminum, titanium). The alloy maintains excellent strength and stability at temperatures exceeding those of Alloy 718, making it the preferred choice for critical rotating applications up to 650°C (1200°F). The yield stress is sensitive to test temperature and strain rate.
