All Metal Flexloc Lock NutPolymer/Nylon Insert Lock Nut
  • Can be used at high temperatures

  • Distributes load evenly due to the fact that it is manufactured as one solid piece.

  • Is THE most reliable all-metal self-locking nut.

  • As it is all metal, it is best for high temperature or corrosive applications

  • One of the only all-metal lock nuts that is certified to 15 cycles of prevailing torque – which is military standard.

  • Overall the most reliable locknut, with the only limitation of application temperature

  • Best for low temp applications, typically less than 350°F

Lock Nut Types & Locking Technologies

1. Nylon Insert Lock Nuts (Prevailing Torque):

  • Nyloc Nuts (DIN 985, ISO 7040): Feature a nylon (polyamide) collar that creates friction against the bolt thread. Excellent for general vibration resistance. Not for extreme temperatures.

  • High-Temperature Polymer Insert Nuts: Utilize advanced engineering plastics (e.g., PEEK, Vespel) for applications exceeding standard nylon limits.

2. All-Metal Lock Nuts (Prevailing Torque):

  • Top-Lock/Prevailing Torque Nuts (DIN 980, ISO 7719): Have a non-circular, elliptical top section that deflects to create a locking force. Reusable and temperature-resistant.

  • Center-Lock Nuts: Feature a deformed thread section in the nut's center.

  • Stake Nuts (MIL-N-25027): Have threads mechanically staked at the top to create interference.

  • Two-Way Lock Nuts: Can be installed from either end.

3. Free-Spinning Lock Nuts (Bearing Surface Locking):

  • Flange Lock Nuts (DIN 1665, ISO 4161): Integrate a serrated flange that bites into the mating surface.

  • Serrated Face Nuts (ASTM A194 Gr. 8S): Feature serrations on the bearing surface for locking.

  • Washer-Assembled Nuts (e.g., Nord-Lock washers): Combine a standard nut with a pre-assembled locking washer system.

4. Special Application Lock Nuts:
