MP35N Studs: Ultra-High Strength Cobalt-Nickel Alloy Threaded Studs for Flange & Clamp Connections

MP35N (UNS R30035) | AMS 5844 / 5845 / 5758 | ASTM F562 | ISO 5832-6 | NACE MR0175 | Co-Ni-Cr-Mo Multiphase Alloy

RAYCHIN LIMITED is a leading manufacturer of MP35N Studs – precision threaded fasteners engineered from cobalt-nickel-chromium-molybdenum multiphase superalloy, delivering the ultimate combination of ultra-high strength, exceptional corrosion resistance, and reliable performance in the most demanding applications. Studs (also known as threaded studs or double-end studs) are headless fasteners threaded on one end (tap-end) or both ends, designed for permanent installation in flanges, pressure vessels, and high-integrity clamped joints. Through precise cold working and age hardening, MP35N achieves ultimate tensile strength up to 300 ksi (2070 MPa) while maintaining excellent ductility and toughness. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including ISO 898-1 for metric studs and ASME B18.31.2 for inch series. Whether you require MP35N studs for aerospace engine mounts, downhole drilling tools, or medical devices, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).

MP35N Studs – Design & Configurations

Double-End Studs

MP35N double-end studs feature threads on both ends with an unthreaded center section. Typically used in flange connections: the tap-end (shorter thread) is installed permanently into a blind tapped hole, while the nut-end (longer thread) receives a nut for clamping. Precision machined to ASME B16.5 and API 6A flange standards. Available in all diameters #0 to 1½" (M1.6 to M36).

Fully Threaded Studs

MP35N fully threaded studs (threaded rods) are continuous threads along the entire length. Ideal for through-hole applications, adjustable connections, and custom-length installations. Rolled threads for superior fatigue life. Lengths up to 2000mm or 80". Supplied with two nuts per ASTM A194 or equivalent.

Tap-End Studs

MP35N tap-end studs have one end threaded with a tap fit (class 5H interference) for permanent installation into tapped holes, and the other end with a class 2A/3A thread for nut engagement. Used extensively in high-pressure fluid end blocks and downhole tools. Custom thread lengths available.

Aerospace & Military Standards

Our MP35N studs meet applicable sections of NASM 8830 (studs, steel, metric and inch), NAS1802, and MS16995 for geometry. Full compliance with AMS 5844, AMS 5845, and AMS 5758 for material and heat treatment. Silver plating per AMS 2410 available for anti-galling.

Oil & Gas / NACE Grades

MP35N studs for sour service manufactured to NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-3 and NACE MR0103 specifications. NACE MR0175 allows hardness up to 51 HRC for work-strengthened and aged material, with certified tensile strengths up to 220 ksi (1517 MPa). Supplied with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certifications and full NDT (PMI, UT, MPI) upon request.

Custom & Non-Standard Studs

Need a special thread combination, extra-long length, proprietary thread form, or reduced shank? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom MP35N studs to your exact specifications – any condition (annealed, cold worked, aged), with full material traceability. Prototype to production volumes supported.

Critical Applications of MP35N Studs

Aerospace & Defense

MP35N studs used in aircraft engine mounts, landing gear assemblies, flight control linkages, and structural airframe joints. Withstand extreme vibration, thermal cycling from -300°F to 800°F, and high static loads. Non-magnetic properties essential for sensitive instrumentation.

Oil & Gas / Downhole Tools

MP35N studs qualified per NACE MR0175 for downhole drilling tools, MWD/LWD equipment, wellhead connectors, BOP stacks, and subsea trees. Resist sulfide stress cracking (SSC) and pitting in H₂S/CO₂ environments at elevated pressures. Double-end studs provide reliable flange sealing in high-pressure systems.

Medical & Surgical Implants

MP35N studs used in surgical instruments, orthopedic external fixators, dental implants, and prosthetic devices. Full biocompatibility per ASTM F562 and ISO 5832-6, excellent fatigue resistance for long-term cyclic loading, and non-magnetic for MRI compatibility.

Marine & Subsea

MP35N studs in seawater pump flanges, subsea connector assemblies, ROV systems, and offshore platform components resist pitting and crevice corrosion in saltwater. Flange studs provide leak-free connections in deepwater environments. Virtually immune to crevice corrosion and pitting even at highest strength levels.

Power Generation

MP35N studs in gas turbines, steam turbines, and nuclear reactor internals provide reliable fastening of casing flanges and sensor mounts. Maintain clamping force after thousands of thermal cycles from cryogenic to 800°F without relaxation.

Chemical Processing

MP35N studs in high-pressure reactor flanges, pump casings, and valve bonnets resist most mineral acids, hydrogen sulfide, and chloride solutions. Smooth thread profile prevents galling and eases maintenance.

International Standards & Global Designations – MP35N Studs

RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures MP35N studs from vacuum induction melted (VIM) and vacuum arc remelted (VAR) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.

Metallurgical note: MP35N is a multiphase cobalt-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy strengthened through a unique combination of solid solution strengthening, cold work hardening (typically 40-60% reduction), and age hardening via precipitation of Co₃Mo phase. The alloy maintains excellent ductility even at high cold reduction levels, enabling production of high-strength studs with precision rolled threads. It remains essentially non-magnetic (permeability <1.005 μ) even after extensive cold working, critical for medical and directional drilling applications. High-temperature (1350-1500°F) heat treatments improve hydrogen embrittlement resistance while maintaining high strength.
