RAYCHIN LIMITED is a leading manufacturer of Monel Hex Bolts – precision hex head fasteners engineered from nickel-copper alloys, delivering exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and reliable performance in the most demanding marine, chemical, and industrial environments. Hex bolts (also known as hex head cap screws) feature a six-sided head with a flat washer facing, providing a larger bearing surface area and superior clamping pressure for heavy-duty bolting applications. Monel alloys, among the first nickel-based alloys commercialized, maintain a single solid-solution phase (or precipitation-hardened structure in K-500) that resists attack from a range of corrosive media that would damage both carbon steel and stainless steel. Our portfolio includes all standard and custom configurations manufactured to NAS, AN, MS, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, SAE, API, NACE, ISO, DIN and KS standards, including ASME B18.2.1 (inch series), ISO 4014 (metric hex head bolts), and DIN 931. Whether you require Monel 400 hex bolts for marine decking and piping supports, Monel K-500 hex bolts for oil & gas downhole tools and subsea flanges, or custom nickel-copper fasteners for chemical processing, RAYCHIN delivers precision, quality, and full traceability. All mechanical properties are presented in MPa and ksi (kilopound per square inch).
Monel hex head cap screws are precision fasteners featuring a flat washer facing under the bolt head, providing a larger bearing surface area and better clamping pressure than other fastener types. Manufactured to tight dimensional tolerances for critical applications where precise fit is required. Head dimensions conform to ASME B18.2.1 (inch series) and ISO 4014 (metric series). Available in diameters from #0 to 2" (M1.6 to M48).
Monel heavy hex bolts feature a larger head width across flats compared to finished hex bolts, providing increased bearing area and load distribution for heavy-duty flange connections and industrial equipment. Manufactured to ASME B18.2.1 (inch) and DIN 931 (metric) standards. Used extensively in high-pressure piping systems, pressure vessels, and offshore platform connections where maximum clamping force is required.
Monel hex bolts available with Unified Coarse (UNC), Unified Fine (UNF), UNJF-3A (aerospace), and metric coarse/fine threads. Thread classes 2A, 3A, 6g. Precision rolled threads for superior fatigue life. Full thread (threaded to head) or partial thread options available to meet specific application requirements. Fully threaded bolts provide pressure distribution along full length for heavy-duty use.
Our Monel hex bolts meet applicable sections of NAS1802 (hex bolts), NASM 8830, MS16995, MS20073-20083, and AN42-AN73. Supplied with EN 10204 3.1/3.2 certifications and full NDT (PMI, UT, MPI) upon request. Ideal for subsea trees, BOP stacks, and wellhead connectors.
Need a special head configuration, proprietary drive, non-standard length, or unique thread form? RAYCHIN engineers design and produce custom Monel hex bolts to your exact specifications – any condition (annealed, half hard, age-hardened for K-500), with full material traceability. Prototype to production volumes supported. In-house metallurgical laboratory and failure analysis capabilities ensure optimal performance for your application.
Monel hex bolts are extensively used in marine environments due to their outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion. Applications include hull fasteners, deck hardware, propeller shaft couplings, seawater piping supports, and underwater instrumentation on boats, ships, and submarines. Unlike stainless steel, Monel maintains structural integrity even in submerged or splash-zone conditions, with corrosion rates below 0.025 mm/year in seawater. Hex head design provides superior clamping for heavy marine assemblies.
Monel hex bolts in chemical processing plants resist aggressive substances such as sulfuric acid (concentrations above 80%), hydrochloric acid (low concentrations), caustic solutions, and reducing atmospheres. Used in the assembly of reactor flanges, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, and valve bodies. By preventing chemical erosion and galvanic reactions, Monel ensures system integrity, reduces maintenance frequency, and enhances operational safety in corrosive processing environments.
Monel hex bolts qualified per NACE MR0175 for offshore drilling rigs, subsea production systems, wellhead equipment, and downhole tools. These environments combine high pressure, elevated temperatures, and exposure to corrosive elements like hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), chlorides, and seawater. Monel's resistance to stress corrosion cracking and sulfide stress cracking ensures reliable performance in deepwater and sour gas applications. Monel K-500, with precipitation hardening, provides yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) for high-strength downhole fasteners and wellhead components.
Monel hex bolts are used in both aircraft and spacecraft components that must perform in extreme environments – ranging from high-temperature engine zones to the vacuum of outer space. Found in fuel systems, hydraulic lines, structural frames, and landing gear assemblies. Monel retains its strength across a broad temperature range (-423°F to 1000°F), resists oxidation, and performs reliably under thermal cycling. Non-magnetic properties essential for sensitive instrumentation.
Monel hex bolts in nuclear reactor flanges, steam turbine casings, and power plant seawater cooling systems provide reliable fastening in corrosive and high-temperature environments. Excellent resistance to high-temperature steam, with corrosion rates less than 0.026 mm/year at elevated temperatures. Maintains mechanical properties up to 540°C (1000°F) in oxidizing and reducing conditions. Used for turbine control linkages, sensor mounts, and heat exchanger bolting.
Monel hex bolts in seawater intake systems, desalination plants, and offshore platform structural connections resist pitting and crevice corrosion in high-velocity seawater. Used for flange connections on large-bore piping, pump foundations, and valve actuators where long-term reliability in saltwater is essential. Virtually immune to stress corrosion cracking in marine environments. Hex head design provides maximum clamping force for critical subsea connections.
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Monel hex bolts from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Monel hex bolts are produced from vacuum induction melted (VIM) material conforming to the following limits per ASTM, AMS, and industry standards.
Metallurgical note: Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy that is hardened only through cold working. It remains ductile even at subzero temperatures and does not require heat treatment for high strength properties. Monel K-500 adds aluminum and titanium to enable precipitation hardening (aging), achieving yield strengths above 690 MPa (100 ksi) while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. Both alloys are essentially non-magnetic (K-500 is non-magnetic; Monel 400 is slightly magnetic at room temperature but loses magnetism at elevated temperatures). The high nickel content provides exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, while copper enhances resistance to reducing environments such as hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids.
Monel hex bolts are supplied in various conditions per ASTM and AMS specifications. Data represent typical values based on industry standards. ksi values (kilopound per square inch) are provided alongside MPa.
Monel alloys retain useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures up to 540°C (1000°F) and can operate in moderately elevated environments. The alloys maintain excellent ductility and toughness from cryogenic temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) continuously, with good oxidation resistance up to 1000°F. Monel K-500 is typically limited to 480°C (900°F) to prevent over-aging of the precipitation-hardened structure. In high-temperature steam, corrosion rates are less than 0.026 mm/year.
Note: Monel excels in applications requiring maximum corrosion resistance at moderate to high temperatures, particularly in reducing environments where stainless steels may fail. Above 480°C, Monel K-500 may experience over-aging and loss of strength.
Monel alloys offer outstanding corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments, making them suitable for the most demanding applications including marine, chemical processing, oil & gas, and power generation.
