Alloy 330 Fasteners

Alloy 330 Set Screws

Alloy 330 Set Screws are specifically designed for high temperature furnace applications such as vacuum furnaces, heat treating and brazing applications. The most prized trait of alloy 330 is its ability perform under cyclic conditions of temperature extremes from heating and cooling; as well as in alternate carburizing and oxidizing atmospheres. An austenitic, nickel-chromium-iron-silicon alloy, Alloy 330 Set Screws also offer industry a low coefficient of expansion, excellent ductility, and high strength.

Chemical Composition (Weight %) – Alloy 330 (UNS N08330 / 1.4886)

Our Alloy 330 set screws are produced from certified melts conforming to ASTM B408 / A473 limits:

ElementASTM B408 / UNS N08330 Range %Typical
Carbon (C)≤ 0.080.05
Silicon (Si)0.75 – 1.501.2
Manganese (Mn)≤ 2.001.0
Phosphorus (P)≤ 0.0300.020
Sulfur (S)≤ 0.0300.010
Chromium (Cr)17.0 – 20.019.0
Nickel (Ni)34.0 – 37.035.5
Copper (Cu)≤ 1.000.2
Iron (Fe)BalanceBalance
Metallurgical note: High nickel (34‑37%) + chromium (17‑20%) + silicon (0.75‑1.5%) gives Alloy 330 exceptional resistance to oxidation, carburization, and thermal shock up to 1150°C. Ideal for set screws in cyclic heating/cooling environments.

Corrosion Resistance of Alloy 330 Set Screws

While Alloy 330 is optimized for high‑temperature environments, it offers good resistance to many corrosive conditions:

  • Oxidation & carburization: Exceptional resistance in air, combustion gases, and sulfur‑bearing atmospheres up to 1150°C.
  • Nitriding: Good resistance to nitrogen‑rich atmospheres (e.g., cracked ammonia).
  • Stress corrosion cracking: High nickel content (34‑37%) provides immunity to chloride SCC.
  • Aqueous corrosion: Similar to 310 stainless; suitable for organic acids, but NOT intended for strong reducing acids or chloride pitting environments.
  • Oxidizing sulfur: Performs well in oxidizing sulfur; for reducing sulfur consult our engineers.
Corrosion note: Alloy 330 is not designed for seawater or strong chloride solutions (for those we offer 254 SMO). It excels in dry, oxidizing, carburizing, and nitriding atmospheres.

Precision Manufacturing & Global Standards Compliance

CNC Forming & Heat Treatment

Our Alloy 330 set screws are cold‑headed or CNC machined from solution‑annealed bar stock, then thread rolled for improved grain flow. Each lot undergoes solution annealing (1038‑1066°C) and water quenching to guarantee optimum high‑temperature properties. Point geometry is precision ground to ensure consistent locking torque.
