Custom end configurations, drive inserts, and special thread lengths available on request.
Nitronic studs are extensively used in aerospace applications including gas turbine engine casings, landing gear components, engine mounts, hydraulic systems, and structural assemblies. Nitronic 50 studs offer high strength (twice that of 304/316) and excellent cryogenic properties, making them ideal for fuel system connections and actuation mechanisms. Nitronic 60 studs provide galling resistance for threaded components subjected to vibration and repeated assembly/disassembly. Used in missile systems, helicopter transmissions, and aircraft structural attachments.
Nitronic studs in chemical plants, refineries, and processing equipment provide reliable fastening in corrosive environments. Nitronic 50 stud bolts exhibit excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in chloride‑containing media. Nitronic 60 studs are specified for valve bonnet connections, pump shaft couplings, and agitator components where galling resistance and corrosion resistance are required simultaneously. Used in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
Nitronic studs qualified for downhole tooling components, wellhead equipment, and high‑pressure valve systems in refineries and petrochemical plants. Nitronic 50 meets NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156‑3 requirements for sour service. Nitronic 60 (ASTM A193 B8S) is widely used for high‑strength stud bolting in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems. Excellent resistance to sulfidation and chloride stress corrosion cracking. Used in offshore platforms, subsea equipment, and FPSO vessels.
Nitronic studs in marine hardware, propeller shafts, pump components, and offshore platform equipment. Nitronic 50 studs provide superior resistance to seawater corrosion, with pitting resistance equivalent to much higher alloyed materials. It remains non‑magnetic even after severe cold working, essential for marine instrumentation and underwater fasteners. Nitronic 60 studs are used in boat shafting, marine valve stems, and rudder components where galling resistance in saltwater environments is critical.
Nitronic studs in gas turbine components, nuclear power plants, and steam turbine assemblies. Nitronic alloys offer high strength at elevated temperatures (up to 570°F/300°C for Nitronic 60, up to 1100°F/593°C for Nitronic 32) with good oxidation resistance. Used in turbine casing stud bolts, valve bonnet connections, and heat exchanger tube sheet supports where high strength and corrosion resistance are required. Nitronic 50 studs are used in nuclear reactor internal components due to their combination of strength and corrosion resistance.
Nitronic studs in food processing equipment, pharmaceutical machinery, and cleanroom applications. Nitronic alloys meet FDA requirements for contact surfaces and provide excellent corrosion resistance to cleaning agents and sanitizing solutions. Nitronic 60's galling resistance is particularly valuable for equipment requiring frequent disassembly for cleaning. Used in mixers, blenders, and sanitary piping systems where corrosion resistance and cleanability are essential.
RAYCHIN LIMITED manufactures Nitronic studs from material conforming to the most widely used national and international specifications. All material is traceable to the mill.
Our Nitronic studs are produced from material conforming to the limits of applicable ASTM, AMS, and ASME standards.
Metallurgical note: Nitronic alloys are nitrogen‑strengthened austenitic stainless steels. Nitrogen provides solid‑solution strengthening, increasing yield strength without sacrificing ductility or toughness. Nitronic 50 contains molybdenum and columbium for enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, with a PRE (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) of 34‑38, exceeding that of 316L (24‑26). Nitronic 60 achieves exceptional galling resistance due to its high silicon and manganese content, which promotes a low stacking‑fault energy and rapid work‑hardening, preventing metal transfer during sliding. This makes it ideal for threaded studs subject to frequent assembly. Nitronic 32 is a high‑manganese grade with excellent strength and moderate corrosion resistance. All grades are non‑magnetic in the annealed condition and retain high strength at cryogenic temperatures.
Nitronic studs are supplied in appropriate conditions (annealed, strain hardened) per ASTM A193, ASTM F593, and ASME specifications. Data represent typical values based on industry standards.
Nitronic alloys maintain useful mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, making them suitable for many high‑temperature stud applications. Nitronic 50 exhibits good strength up to 600°C (1112°F) with oxidation resistance similar to 304/316 stainless steels. It retains significant yield strength at 650°C (570 MPa tensile, 290 MPa yield). Nitronic 60 retains strength up to 570°F (300°C) and offers superior galling resistance even at elevated temperatures, with good oxidation resistance up to 815°C due to its high silicon content. Nitronic 32 (high manganese grade) provides strength up to 650°C with good oxidation resistance and is often used for furnace components. For continuous service above 500°C, Nitronic 50 is preferred due to its molybdenum content. The alloys resist scaling in air up to 870°C (1600°F) intermittently and up to 925°C (1700°F) continuously for Nitronic 50. Nitronic 60's high silicon content improves oxidation resistance at high temperatures, making it suitable for exhaust system studs and heat treat fixtures.
Nitronic alloys offer outstanding corrosion resistance in various environments, often surpassing conventional stainless steels. Nitronic 50 was developed to provide superior resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion compared to 316L and 317L, with PRE of 34‑38. It is highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking in chloride environments. Nitronic 60 provides excellent resistance to aqueous corrosion, similar to 304, but with superior resistance to galling and metal‑to‑metal wear. Nitronic 32 offers good general corrosion resistance, comparable to 304, with high strength.
