Precision rolled threads for superior strength and consistency.
With a density of only 2.8 g/cm³ and ultimate tensile strength up to 572 MPa in T6 temper, 7075 aluminum offers one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any commercial alloy. Approximately 60% lighter than steel while maintaining comparable strength levels.
Available in T6 temper for maximum strength (572 MPa UTS, 503 MPa YS) and T73 temper for improved stress corrosion cracking resistance with slightly reduced strength (480-510 MPa UTS). T73 temper is specifically developed to enhance resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
7075 aluminum exhibits outstanding fatigue strength (110-190 MPa), making it ideal for aerospace and motorsport applications subject to cyclic loading. Fatigue resistance comparable to many steels at a fraction of the weight.
7075 aluminum offers excellent machinability in the T6 and T73 tempers, allowing for precision thread rolling and complex geometries. Cold forming of heads and thread rolling produces superior fatigue strength and dimensional accuracy.
Readily anodized to improve corrosion resistance and wear characteristics. Chemical brightening and color anodizing (black, blue, gold, red, purple, silver) to between 8-12 microns thickness provides both protection and aesthetic appeal.
Maintains useful mechanical properties up to 200°C (400°F) maximum service temperature. Excellent low-temperature performance with toughness retained down to cryogenic temperatures. Not recommended for elevated temperature service above 200°C.

Our Aluminum 7075 fasteners are produced from melts that strictly conform to the limits below per ASTM B209 / EN 573-3. Zinc is the primary alloying element, forming strengthening precipitates with magnesium. Copper further enhances strength, while chromium improves stress corrosion cracking resistance.
Expert note: Zinc and magnesium combine to form MgZn₂ (eta phase) precipitates during aging, which provide the exceptional strength of 7075 aluminum. Copper addition further increases strength through solid solution and precipitation effects. Chromium is added to control grain structure and improve stress corrosion cracking resistance. The alloy is heat-treatable, with T6 temper providing maximum strength and T73 temper offering enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking at a slight strength reduction.
Aluminum 7075 fasteners are supplied in various tempers depending on application requirements. The data below represent typical properties for common tempers.
Aluminum 7075 maintains useful mechanical properties up to approximately 200°C (400°F). Maximum mechanical service temperature is 200°C. Above this temperature, over-aging occurs rapidly and strength decreases significantly. The alloy retains excellent toughness at cryogenic temperatures.
Aluminum 7075 has moderate corrosion resistance that can be significantly enhanced through proper temper selection and surface treatment.
7075 aluminum is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking in high-strength tempers like T6. The T73 temper was specifically developed to improve resistance to stress corrosion cracking while sacrificing approximately 10-15% of tensile strength. For critical applications in corrosive environments, T73 temper is recommended.
T6 Temper: High strength but susceptible to SCC. Requires protective coatings for service in corrosive environments. Not recommended for sustained tensile stress in marine or chemical environments without protection.
T73 Temper: Over-aged temper with significantly improved SCC resistance. Developed specifically to mitigate SCC susceptibility while maintaining high strength. Preferred for applications where stress corrosion is a concern.
The selection of temper is critical for optimizing performance in specific applications.
Characteristics: Peak strength condition, maximum tensile and yield strength. Achieved by solution heat treatment followed by artificial aging.
Applications: Aerospace structural components, high-performance racing parts, stressed members where maximum strength is required and corrosion protection is provided.
Properties: UTS 540-572 MPa, YS 470-503 MPa, elongation 5-11%.
Characteristics: Over-aged condition with slightly lower strength but significantly improved stress corrosion cracking resistance.
Applications: Aerospace components exposed to corrosive environments, marine applications, parts under sustained tensile stress where SCC is a concern.
Properties: UTS 480-510 MPa, YS 400-440 MPa, elongation 9-13%, enhanced SCC resistance.
Characteristics: Advanced heat treatment process that can achieve improved combinations of strength and corrosion resistance.
Properties: Can achieve hardness up to 183.5 HV with wear rates as low as 4.5 × 10⁻³ mm³/m and intergranular corrosion depth of only 20.1 μm.
